Riversdale Art Gallery & New Accommodation
Location: Nowra, Shoalhaven, NSW
Client: Bundanon Trust
Value: $35M
The project overcame significant challenges, both technical to achieve the Trust’s requirements on the site but also procedural, in managing complex funding pathways involving private and State and Federal Government contributions. The site’s remoteness and immersion within extensive Bushland, required flame zone Rural Fire considerations, legal access provisions due to Native Title (which included the construction of a ferry pier on the Shoalhaven River), and the coordinated management of a team of 35 consultants, with many located across the eastern seaboard in Melbourne, Canberra, the Shoalhaven and Sydney.
The outcome is a Sulman award-winning art gallery and storage facility for more than 4000 pieces of the Arthur Boyd collection, as well as new residential accommodation in the gantry bridge structure.
